Ahhhhhh....Another Miserable Snowy Spring!!!

Yesterday I felt like a caged dog pawing at a symbolic door, wanting to be let out and ready to jump into spring. The morning was beautiful and I ran some errands, even getting in a short walk. However, as the afternoon progressed, the sun then hid behind cloudy gray skies, and it became chilly and windy--obvious signs that spring was not ready to come out and play.

Today the snow came down in large fat wet flakes. It really felt like it ought to be Christmas. It's been forecasted that the snow will melt by the end of this week, but it sure does not feel like it. Seriously, it was cold and miserable outside (I think "miserable" will be my favorite word to describe how I feel and the weather conditions in my part of the world). I'm getting very impatient because all of this snow feels so unreasonable and unfair (yeah, yeah, just blame global warming--but it sure as heck is not warm here). So I'm feeling very miserable.

The Groundhog Saw its Shadow, Right?

There was snow, then it melted. "Spring" officially began and I actually walked outside without a winter coat. Now there's snow again, and I'm wondering when it will melt and when spring will finally be here. I find the winter here brutal, not because of to the cold, snow and windchill (or when all three meets together to create the perfect winter storm), but due to the lack of sunlight. Several gray cloudy days can be tolerable, but when it becomes the norm...well, I can get a bit impatient.

In the meantime, I've been planning my garden and contemplating where I will grow certain plants. I can’t wait for the ground to thaw out and to start planting, but it also means that I have to do an inventory of all the plants that survived winter.

It's Alive!

I want to share a picture of my clematis plant. I purchased it in the fall at a greenhouse sale (now I wish I had purchased more), with intentions of planting it in my yard in the spring. Well, I brought it home and put it with the rest of my plants in my breakfast nook. As fall turned into winter, the plant became dry looking and leaves started to fall off. I thought it was dead and was so sad about losing my plant. Luckily, I was lazy (and still had a lot of faith that it was alive), kept watering my plant, and decided not to cut off the "dead" brown parts. Well, some time in January, my plant started shooting out green buds--from the "dead" parts. Well, this month a flower bud actually sprouted, and this week it BLOOMED! I'm so excited. I'm reconsidering whether I should plant the clematis outside, especially since it's doing so great in my home, but I think I should continue to plant it outside . I have a lamp post that sorely needs to be decorated, and it was meant to be outside.

Finally...My Own Letterpress!

Some of you already know that I've been searching far and wide for a letterpress to use in my business. Through sheer luck (but also with a lot of wishing and repeatedly asking the universe) I am in the process of acquiring a letterpress. I cannot express my excitement--and I am VERY EXCITED!!! It is a C&P 10x15, is in great condition, and it is huge. I can't wait to start printing on it.
